Power goes down the length of the cable into the winch coil, then back to the relay box and then back to the winch into another coil and then back to the relay box. So 4 times the length of the vehicle is a lot of wire. It doesn't help that there is an unexpected(to the winch) loss mid way in the winch motor circuit.In contrast to smaller electro-mechanical relays, these relays use a coil to generate a magnetic field once a current passes through.
